What is ecological agriculture?

Set of agricultural techniques that excludes the use, in agriculture and livestock, of synthetic chemicals such as fertilizers, pesticides, antibiotics, etc., nor uses genetically modified organisms, with the aim of preserving the environment, maintaining or increasing the fertility of the soil and provide food with all its natural properties.

What is the difference between Ecological, Bio and Organic?

From a legal point of view it is exactly the same. Simply in some countries like the United States or Great Britain, the term "organic" is used more and, in contrast, in Spain we refer more to "ecological" and also "bio".

What exactly is Biodynamic Agriculture?

It is a certificate of organic farming granted by a group of German consumers. This certification happens to be one of the first and most demanding of them all. It is based on the philosophy that farms, orchards or farms are living and self-sufficient organisms, formed by all the animals and plants that inhabit it. An ecosystem in itself that people are part of with the mission to help you regulate and sustain yourself.

 In a way, it is about "technifying" the knowledge of the whole life of the farmers of yesteryear when there were no chemical products, nor synthesized.

How much conversion time passes between a conventional farm can be reconverted to ecological?

The period of time necessary to ensure that the possible chemical residues in the crops and in the soil have disappeared. The duration of this conversion period is established in the European Organic Agriculture regulations as follows:

"If it is about annual crops (vegetables, cereals, etc ...) the conversion period will be 2 years until the first ecological planting.

If it is perennial crops (olive, fruit, vineyard, etc ...) the conversion period will be 3 years until harvest.

There may be exceptions where deadlines are shortened if it is shown that previously such unauthorized chemicals were not used.

It is also possible to extend the term if residues are detected in the soil or in the plants. "


 How are pests and diseases controlled in an organic crop if chemical products can not be used?

 Since we can not use pesticides or chemical insecticides, we use our own nature to control and promote the health of our plants.

 There are insects that feed on others, and insects that feed on plants. The first group is the one that interests us to finish with those that attack our production, then, achieving the balance between the groups that "attack" us and the groups that "help us fight the attackers", we manage to keep our productions healthy .

How is the possible contamination of organic fruit and vegetables avoided by contact with the conventional one?

The only really reliable method is that the farms and the whole process of storage, packaging and distribution be exclusive with organic products, as HaciendasBio does.

Companies that do not do so should adopt separation, cleaning and identification measures at each step to prevent the two types of products from mixing, contaminating or replacing./p>
